to me, the best part about lomography is the randomness of it all and how expected things/photos are/will turn out, so i get super excited when i see a fellow lomographer, or someone who's interested to start/someone who's game for a discussion about it, because though my knowledge is limited, i really love to share and learn about others' experiences, cause that's what lomography is all about.

today i saw somebody with the multi-coloured holga that i pretty much didn't really fancy, and as much as i was trying to strike a friendly conversation about lomography, and diana cameras versus holga cameras with the person, i couldn't help but feel disappointment/despise when she said, [with a rather cocky look on her face i must say]

'oh, i don't like diana cause of the colour, you know the yellowness of the photos you get when you use diana.'

firs thing i thought was,
what yellow?
like ERR.

when it comes to lomo, having read and posted in forums as a noob,
i realise that it all boils down to indoors/out doors, flash/no flash, and in particular, the type for positive slide film you're using if you're concerned about the colours/contrast. saying that photos taken with the diana is yellow, unlike that of the holga, is like saying the male brain is superior to the female, which [till this point of time] is not/has not been scientifically proven, and is hopelessly flawed and ignorant. not to mention diana actually being the predecessor of the holga, i really find myself quite turned-off by such a misinformed statement about the superiority of the holga [given that even veterans in lomography seldom claim neither the diana nor holga to be superior, considering the various merits of each]

then it occured to me that somebody with a multicolour [yellow/blue/pink goodgod ulgy and expensive] holga with the multicolour flash probably is into it for the appearance [cuteness] of things, and second thing it hit me that she probably has absolutely no idea about what she is talking about/what lomography is about.

anyone who's really into it for the 'true authenticity' of lomography would certainly recommend the most basic models of holga; essentially the 120s [out of production, super rare now, and [heehee] what i own], or the 120n. no point getting the 120g, which is the one with the glass lens, since you're into lomo and the whole imperfection of shooting with a toy camera as well as the vignetting effects, so why get the glass lens [which is supposedly sharper?] when you can get super lomo effects with the cheaper plastic lens? and i really think [personally] that the heart of lomography is outdoor shooting, so unless really necessary, i won't use a flash, which makes me [somewhat biasedly] think of those with inbuilt flashes [especially the multicolour one] as rather stupid/lazy/whatever. if somebody has the 120gcfn that can really say a lot about what kind of person he/she is, so well. ya.

perhaps i already had a bad impression of her already, but this just totally topped things up, because i didn't even bother trying to have a discussion with her about lomography after that, because i guessed/thought/think that she probably wouldn't listen anyway.

like, wow.

i am so gonna bring my diana tomorrow, spam photos and then kick her ass.
okay maybe not la,

but i will show her that photos taken with the diana do not come out yellow eh.
super misinformed eh, wah lau.
