i'm 50% my way through 'life of pi' and it is retaining it's level of engagement.
okay so maybe i somewhat cheated- i seldom read the introduction/epilogue/author's note/whatever they call it, because basically it's just some boring (or ultra interesting depending on your POV) background on the author, which i am entirely uninterested about.

Usually after finishing the book, if it has intrigued me,
that's the time i bother would flip back to those starting pages, to search online, to try to read more to get to know what shaped the ingenious mind that conceived such a perfect piece of literature.

most of the time, though,
(and i am unembarrassed as i say this)
not really.

i guess sheer forgetfulness and lack of motivation to acknowledge/understand these abstract, faraway people (novelists) get the better of me.

i am quite happy being the ignorant reader.
---------------------------------------
work.

delays will be delays but somehow everything seemed to work out okay?

like Q said, geez, like i need to cut myself some slack
okay she didn't say that exactly, it was more of along the lines of 'not be so hard on yourself...' but anyway it's kind of the same, i figure.

the best thing was when Fion, the fieldwork manager replied my email-

'Hi Wenlin,
I know I know. it hasn’t been an easy project for both of us!
when I thought it’s finally come to an end………….. :(
anyway, will get them to start calling doctors for re-ask.
Have a good evening!'

sometimes the randomest of things put a smile to your face.
---------------------------------------
for someone who will be off in a foreign land, breathing in volcanic dust and what not, not knowing a word the natives speak (well maybe like 20%, considering whatever cik gu taught that's left lingering in random parts of my brain), with no concrete plan, nor a roof over my head (yet),

i'm rather relaxed.

i guess it's because it's just me,

and i'm always like-
'we'll see how things go'

except this time, it's

'i'll see how things go'

---------------------------------------
if people did things wrongly the first time,

do you think they should be given a second chance to make it right?
or was doing things correctly on the first try the important part?
