just working aimlessly, springing from the stress of being tasked with sudden (and extremely short) deadlines, and having to multi-task 345678976543234565432123456 things at one time. Okay so maybe just 3 or 4, but that's stretching me to my limit, k?

i'm even stressed that i start drinking a whole lot of tea and typing so fast and loudly and sticking my fingers into my hair to press my throbbing veins. speaking of which i had this throbbing headache that was off and on for the whole day since after lunch, and got worse after dinner. Not that dinner was anything stressful of course.

It's Angie's birthday tomorrow, so we had a small celebration (sadly not the 'BANG' that she was envisioning but hopefully good enough) at hatched, a small place at evans road, where they serve breakfast all day. I'm not just about to write another whole long post about how fantastic breakfast is since i already have, but simply put in one sentence it's just really awesome to be able to have good western breakfast all day. It's just quite lovely (such a brit thing to say)

No photos since i went from work and was really tired and hadn't even thought about bringing a camera- that's the thing, when they see a slightly more massive-looking black camera-like-thing on you everyone expects you to be the default camera man and you get little/no rest at all. Peole start egging you on, throwing you poses and expecting you to snap every bit. It's relentless and horrible. Well, unless you're in the mood for it (or paid to do so). And anyway at restaurants people'd tell you excitedly that you should take pictures of the food before eating them- and it'd get me really quite annoyed because i'm not exactly a big fan of food photography.

Can i eat my pancakes in peace, please?

But, anyway, back to the topic- hatched. so here you have, a shameless rip from some other photographer- pretty decent shots of the place. credits to whoever you are.

The place just kind of gives me the same kind of vibes as 15 minutes, the place i used to do part-time during my uni days (though not that long ago), but maybe smaller with a more personal touch.

Couldn't find a picture of an evening shot, but i'd say it really does look different in the evening- i'd go with the morning cause it looks brighter and more cheery and spacious.

The menu was pretty ok, but being my nitpicky self, i have this pet peeve for menus with no pictures. it's horrible, making customers choose what to eat based on word descriptions. And sometimes it's hardly accurate. Not to mention you have no idea what the serving size/portion is like. PAH.

I'd have to admit i was slightly disappointed because the choices for vegetarians was pretty limited (and even considering i eat eggs?), and besides pancakes/waffles there were only about 3 other options i could choose from. The girls were also a bit miffed that most of the dishes had beef in them- too bad for the buddhists.

When the food came i was honestly disappointed with the portions (for mine especially) first, since i was insanely hungry (had lunch at 12, and Soohf and i had waited for the girls at hatched for more than 1/2 an hour before they finally came), and everyone elses' looked pretty decent.
I had a dish called popeye's salute(right most top corner photo, ), which consisted of poached egg (which wasn't too bad) with spinach. The mashed potato with mushroom toppings side was really yummy but so little!

It was a little disappointing but i think the saving grace were the pancakes, which were awesome. I couldn't find any photos, but they're really good. They're just thick, really well made, smell awesome and taste great even without the maple syrup. Which is incredible. It's not the kind of pancakes i can make anyway, so i'd probably go back for an omelette (the zucchini one) and some pancakes/waffles if i'm game for a long walk from the bus stop. it's really quite a walk in so unless you've got great company, or drive/are driven, it's really inconvenient.

If you're in the area, i'd recommend you to go to Serene centre along bukit timah road instead, because they have good ol' Macs which you can always fall back on, and fantastic ice cream at island creamery. A japanese eatery and some western cuisine, a deli, and a wine shop along the stretch. Better than having to walk 15 minutes to eat eggs.

But that's for another day.
