Breakfast is the most important yet most neglected meal of the day (by most people anyway) but anyone who knows me even vaguely well would know how much i love breakfast-it's really the best meal of the day, because i get to eat all the things i like:
eggs- hardboiled softboiled scrambled, sunny side up etc, sandwiches, muffins, scones, bread and peanut butter and nutella and jam, fruit juice, milkshake (avocado!), yogurt, yogurt drink, fruits, oat milk, and in the past, sausages, bacon, cheese and ham.
but really,
i love pancakes the most of all.

which explains why i am always a sucker and buy the stupid hotcakes meal at macdonalds when obviously i know it's just really yummy flour and not worth the price at all.
so considering the picnic i thought maybe besides egg salad (egg avocado originally but i failed my sis's taste test trial =( tastes pretty ok to me though) i'd make something more, you know, catered to mainstream taste buds. It's an evening picnic i know but hey, who said you can't have pancakes at 5pm? Hell i'd have pancakes at 11pm.
I'm still not getting the perfect pancakes though. It's quite irksome. The first one always comes out too oily, and reminds me of somebody's face (gross), then the second one is slightly better but shape-wise is always odd-looking. Thankfully by the 3rd i'm getting normal-er looking pancakes. Since the box pack says it makes 30 i guess i wiped about about 5-6 since i ended up making massively thick and fat pancakes.... So i have about 10-15 more trials left for the picnic itself. well.
as for the egg salad i'm still having problems with the eggs- how long do i have to let them sit inside the water after the boiling's done? i thought that if i'd boil the eggs with the water once the water reaches 100deg and starts massively evaporating it's the sign and i can turn off the gas and the eggs will be boiled to perfection. No. turns out the yolk is still 5% uncooked. Which is awesome if you like semi-runny yolk, but totally devastating if you're putting it into a salad.
and the first time i put too much avocado, the ratio of avocado:egg was a little off but it still tasted ok to me. A whiff of the smell and my sis did not even want to try it. oh well. =(
hope that i can make something edible AND presentable for the picnic.
I like cooking okay, i'm just not that fantastic at it.
