fast away, the old year passes,
fa-la-la-la-la la-la-la-la - la :)

hail the new year, lads and lassess
fa-la-la-la-la la-la-la-la

sing we joy-ous altogether
fa-la-la-la-la-la la-la-la

heedless of- the wind or weather

fa-la-la-la-la la-la-la..........

not being able to sight-sing/read notes is like swimming without your legs;
but acapella is unbelieveably awesome
------------------------------
it's still super annoying to see people get distracted by the audience and not watching the conductor, or people not holding their file properly, or people humming the first note that the conductor gives before the song [SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL >____<], or people who don't breathe properly and prepare before singing; or people not standing properly when they're singing, or people who are really clueless about their pitching

BUT

nothing beats singing from the hotel to the bus ride/way walking all the way home

having sung and done christmas carols for a good part of my life,
sung with a range/variety of singers from diverse backgrounds,
been trained in both competitive and non-competitive choirs,
learnt how to use my diaphragm, forgot, and revised [again],

i miss having only priscilla and me singing in the sop 1 section; i miss memorizing and singing 8 part/10 part 2-people-per-section songs like super gaudy arrangements of '12 days' and 'it's the most wonderful time of the year' [if the other person forgets to come in then it's good luck to you singing solo] , i miss chye keong doing the kissing mouth shape before mouthing and tell us the next song he will conduct is 'mommy kissing santa claus'; i miss the incredible hall with fancy-ostentatious-looking chandelier and super-'wet'-echo-y-acoustics that make us sound oh-so-heavenly and the awesome bar blu at shangri-la; i miss singing 3 days-xmas eve-christmas-boxing day- in a row till our throats were sore;

every single part of the frustration/joy/tears/tiredness
every single voice every single person

even the not-so-fantastic competition gown

i miss weijun doing the tribal-dance and getting me to do it with her and her saying 'HANDY IS ANGRY handy is angry!!!' and opening her eyes super big; i miss jit vern's super fantastic [and also hilarious] introduction for our songs [when he made the mistake of using 'is' when it's supposed to be 'are' 3 times repetitively at cherry garden, melt and dolce vita]; i miss my awe/amazement at being able to eat at the worth-$180-buffet at melt for the first time; i miss miss yap's super energy and having her in the section; i miss having angmohs cry when we sang 'white christmas'; i miss yiyang gorging on the buffet after caroling; i miss sitting in a super long table eating and cam-whoring after performing and lunch; i miss singing all the way to clarke quay;

every single part of the imperfection/inadequacies/insufficiencies
every single voice every single person

even singing at the oh-so-not-very-conducive-stairs

i missed/miss every single part/bit of these

but/and though this is nothing like what was;

there is something charming, and quite wonderful,
about caroling with eusoff, this year.
------------------------------------------------

last year last chance.

though 'it can be better'

for me it was really, quite something.
quite the best. [okay, maybe almost]

and everything would have been quite perfect
[if only i had the chance to carol with you, just only if-]

but things are quite perfect they way they are already,

aren't they? :)
