Surprises.

One of the things i love the most is planning surprises-

it's because of the look on people's faces when they are at the end of receiving the surprise;
the look of bliss, and thankfulness, it makes the planning and effort all worthwhile.

But sometimes things turn out differently-
or rather, most of the time, they are different.

The kind of reaction you anticipated,
or people's preferences for things,
don't turn out to be quite what you thought they would be,

and you end up a little lost, confused, shaken, even demoralized.

Was i wrong? Did i read too much into things?
i recall on xxx occasion, so and so said she likes things such as these,
or on yyy occasion, so and so said he would love somewhere like that-

all these culminate into a plethora of nagging suspicions that are ultimately never confirmed nor denied, because the act of you planning the surprise without directly asking their preferences had made a final outcome regardless, so you would have never know what choice would have been better, or even,

the best.

the thing is, some people are happy with okay, or good,
but, to me, surprises have to be the best to make things worthwhile.

if not, why?
