Drawing parallels in everyday life-
Jay-walking is a bit of a modern art form, in my humble opinion.

something that takes good estimation of velocity (of approaching cars, and your own walking speed) and split-second decision-making.

the reason why people get into accidents when they don't cross the road at the traffic light, could be because they are really awful at estimating how fast they can walk (usually overoptimistic) or how fast the cars are approaching (usually underestimating),
but more often than not it's because people meander, hesitate.
they stand at the spot, their foot hovering over the curb,
thinking in their head-

cross? not cross? cross? not cross?

i think it's all about commitment.
Once you've thought through the rational part of any situation, have assessed the potential threats, and am sure that the strategy you are about to adopt is workable,

you just plunge head into it.
no hesitation, no wait whatsoever.

the reason why people end up in stupid situations,
or make horrible decisions/arrive at awful outcomes,

could be because they're bad at risk-assessment or estimation,
but usually it's because they're not committed to what they've decided.

Once you've decided,
just stick through with it.

Had a really random chat with B (or F, depending on how people call him) that turned out really thoughtful and rather encouraging (for me).

it's never too late for anything-
(for sure)

hmmm.....
