Of all the makeup procedures and products that exist, it's without doubt that i find lipstick the most unnecessary. If possible i'd do away with it- because i can't stand the feeling of something foreign sitting on my lips; when i talk, when i'm doing work, when i'm walking, when people are watching. It's just incredibly uncomfortable and unsettling for me. Just like nail polish on my fingernails and toenails- it's just something really unbearable for me- i'd feel like my pores are clogged and my nails/lips can't 'breathe'.
I know it sounds idiotic/bimbotic but that's exactly how i feel-
Before going for an interview i'd religiously go through my makeup regime: cleaning my face thoroughly, putting concealer, foundation, curling my lashes, putting mascara, eyeliner, blusher, and sometimes even eyeshadow-but it's just the lipstick that i mostly seem to 'forget'.

but there is one fashion trend spring this year that i have totally become besotted with-
pink lips.
(yes i already know spring 2010 is very much over but-)
i'd become incredibly drawn towards this (weird?)pinkish lip colour that graced the lips of countless models as they trudged down the runway for spring 2010 (inspired by my brief childhood fascination, BARBIE, of all people/things =/)-

and made me actually consider (for the first time) buying a lipstick for non-practical purposes. It's bizarre for me because besides eyeliner (which i even forgo nowadays) i seldom put anything on my face before going out- and makeup to me is really just a form of basic courtesy at the workplace, so buying a lipstick for the sheer pleasure of wanting to have that lip colour in my make up collection is just kind of kooky.

There available types of pink lipstick are numerous- they comes loads of shades and brands, and i am (and remain) rather at idiot at these things... so while considering which to get (if any) i looked up online... There's the M.A.C. viva glam gaga, which is a pretty awesome shade of pink, and looks charming I'd be able to convince myself if i wanted to that buying viva glam lipstick is helping needy people/children around the world since 100% of the proceeds go to charity- but to be honest i just don't want to buy anything that's lady gaga-inspired or endorsed....personal dislike- too much hype and not (that) much talent.

So then for alternatives there's the limited edition Lancome Proenza Pink (left), (which is really pretty, though in a kind of sickly way?) that i'd probably not be able to get my hands on, and the really cheap and afforable E.L.F. lipstick in the comparable pouty petal shade.

I really dig the colour and look but i guess i'm still having my reservations because the problem with pink lipstick, and in particular, that shade of Protenza pink, is that to be able to actually pull off the colour i think you'd need the skin tone of Edward cullen/bella swan (they're as pale as each other-isn't that freaky!) and given that us Asians typically have yellow undertones in our complexion, the pink/purple might not be all that flattering. Not really digging the ideal of trying to look vampire-runway-model-esque.
Considering that my skin has other more obvious problems i'd probably be devoting my time and money to these so I don't think i'd be getting one (pink lipstick) now but no harm trying the barbie look in future- cause if you can look like this, why not, hell yeah.
