inspired by the event i went to today, i decided to write something about my interest/knowledge of japanese pop culture.
heh.
basically there are 4 aspects. for me, it would be food, music, anime/comics, and drama.
let's start with food.
basically im not an expert at japanese food or anything, but i LOVE jap cuisine, ANYTHING, EVERYTHING except for that na dou thingy. heh. *looks away in disgust* let's see. if you could measure a person's jap-ness based on the amount of green tea and miso soup one drinks, then i would definitely be considered quite jap. haha.

*awkward silence resumes*
*looks away*
uh, ok. so let's go on to music
*smiles excitedly, mouth curling like a cat*
=D
LOVE toshi. i mean, toshinobu kubokata is basically like the GODFATHER of japanese r&b la. i mean, 'lalalalovesong'? it's like, CLASSIC. and his new[old new, not new new, sadly] was released on my BIRTHDAY LAST YEAR. watashi no tanjobi desu! *squeals excitedly* [urh, ok, i dont squeal, so thats figuratively. maybe i squirm inside. frmph.] and i totally like the way he croons. ok, enough about MY toshi. then there's ken hirai, his more-handsome-more-recognised-widely-more-goodlooking-more-metrosexual-more-high-pitched-successor. i mean, supposedly i'm supposed to [wait, i just repeated myself] like his ballads cos they're classics but i really prefer his fast songs more. there's simply more groove to it. slow songs can kill. anyway, he always looks like he's in extreme pain when he's singing. which links to my next fav singer, mika nakashima. shes cool, pretty, and has genuine talent. but she hunches horribly when she sings. also looking like she has stomach cramps. but her 'Aroma', 'carrot and stick', etc... *eyes shining* i'm horribly biased.
i didn't really like glamourous sky though. not glamourous enough =( neither rock nor un-rock.
i also like chemistry, but dislike their ballads, save for their first most famous single, 'pieces of a dream'.
speaking of groups, i also really like m-flo. they're the best group to have cheapskate albums comprising of songs almost entirely contributed by guest singers. heh. but yoshika, emily and monday michiru gel really well with Verbal, so it's ok i guess. Better than lisa i think. her voice is a tad too squeaky for my liking. monday michiru's voice is so strong i get a adrenaline rush when i listen to A.D.D.P!. and rie fu's voice is so seductive and lazy that i can't help but press the replay button when i listen to float n' flow.
for a while i liked EXILE, DA PUMP and v6 briefly. but it was, a short fling. heh. i quite like utada's songs, but not all also....
for a while i liked SUPERCAR, and THE BACK HORN's 'yume no hana', and TOKYO JIHEN'S 'shao nan' and that 'xiu luo chang' but sometimes sheena ringo's voice is still too nazel for my liking.
then lately i watched 'lily chou chou no subete', and fell in love with salyu/lily chou chou's melancholic/monotonous mumbling/singing. dont ask how.
i'm too lazy to write more, since for me, so many singers' songs are 'one hit wonders'
im off to find nice new songs
im sourcing for toshi's new album 'nothing but your love'
